About Kim Richardson
How did I get interested in Websites and
Marketing?
Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in Cape Town,
South Africa, I started a successful full-time private practice in
1995. As a local graduate, conference presenter, active society
committee member, academic lecturer and clinical supervisor in my
professional community, I generated a steady stream of referrals.
Starting a private practice as an unknown psychotherapist in the
USA meant that I used very different methods this time to
generate referrals for my part-time practice.
One of the methods of generating referral that I used was to
emphasize a particular area of interest in my work (adjusting
to motherhood and postpartum depression) and give talks and workshops in
this “niche”.
A second method was to create a website about my services that
also offered useful information to new mothers. I have been
building websites since 1999. I started out by creating sites for
psychological societies, psychotherapists, psychoanalysts, mental health
organizations and other helping professionals. I then learned ways ways
to improve and expand my clients' online presence and web visibility,
also branching into the business of private practice, specifically
referral generating activities.
As a psychodynamic clinician, I
understand concerns regarding confidentiality, self-disclosure and
increased visibility. I will work with you to find a way of
representing yourself online and in your professional community, while
staying true to your character and values. You will find my approach
sensitive and respectful.

whether I can help you achieve it.
