How I Work
What’s it like to work with Kim Richardson? On this
page I hope to give you a sense of who I am and what it's like working
with me. I will share my guiding beliefs and values and
why using me to generate your website content may be more enriching and effective than going to a web
designer specializing primarily in design.
What results can you expect?
Even though you have relied for years on word-of-mouth
marketing, you will experience and understand how a website can enhance that
process. Clients given 2 or 3 names to call and visit your
website and decide which of the names they want to pursue. I will help
you write web content and develop a website that is friendly and
inviting and encouraging to all the prospects that are given your name.
This allows a potential client to as much time as they need on your
website, getting a sense of who you are and if you can relate to someone
like them and understand their concerns and needs. A website gives them various options for
contacting you (by form, by email, by phone, or by attending a talk you
are giving) and helps to lessen their
anxiety about making the decision to seek help.
Scheduling regular meetings with me helps you stick to your marketing
goals. This is because we will not set goals that are unrealistic and
out of character. There are many great marketing ideas out there for
private practitioners. I will help you choose the ones that are
effective for your business and that are in line with your professional
values.
I will help you become more comfortable with marketing
strategies that you have avoided in the past. There are some
strategies like giving presentations, for example, that are incredibly
powerful for marketing your practice. If you feel that not doing these
things is really hurting your business let's work on getting you to
speak in public. If you really do not
want to, we will come up with alternatives, like writing short articles
for the internet. Not only can I help you with the format and where to
submit them, but together we will come up with topic ideas and an action
plan.
You will generate reader-friendly content for other promotional
activities. You will find my way of questioning you about your work
makes it easy to access good clear content for your website, brochures
and business cards. Overcoming writers block and knowing what to content
to put in your promotional materials will be the least of your worries!
You may experience a renewed level of energy, dedication and passion to
your work. Clients who have been psychotherapists for a long time
and are feeling burn-out may find that talking about their business and
clarifying their areas of interest and expertise can reaffirm who they are and why they chose this field in the
first place.
I will challenge you to think about your strengths as a therapist in
many different ways. Even if you are new to the field of psychotherapy,
I will help draw from your life experience and come up with a way of
describing what you have offer that is accurate and very affirming and complimentary to you.
GUIDING BELIEFS AND VALUES
I believe in the power of psychotherapy. As a
psychodynamic psychotherapist in private practice I have been privy to
astounding transformations that occur over time as a result of
psychotherapy.
I believe there is no substitute for good therapy. We
have all treated clients who have had unhelpful and even destructive
previous therapy experiences. As clinicians we need to make it possible for clients to make
informed and careful choices. We can do this by sharing the way we work,
who we work with and what kinds of clients would benefit most from
seeing us.
I accept and understand that there is a new model of consumerism
and it is electronic. Nature abhors a vacuum. I believe
psychotherapists and psychoanalysts need to step into the 21st century
model and be available to the new consumer behavior of mental health
clients.

When you work with me you will find that I strive to come up with a
website and a marketing plan that fits you best.
I listen to what
is important to you in your work. I seek to understand the values and standards that you practice by and help you
turn them into accessible website content. If neutrality and non-interference are important to you, we
will work on content that is least intrusive to your clients. If your
style is to be more personally accessible, we can be creative about
describing your strengths and uniqueness.
